Principal's Welcome Back Message for 2026

Welcome to a New School Year at Govalle Elementary!

Welcome back to Roadrunner Country! We are thrilled to kick off another incredible year of learning, growth, and community. As we launch into this school year, I want to share our core goals, highlight important campus routines, and reaffirm our commitment to every student's success.

Our Goals & Accountability Status
At Govalle, we are dedicated to continuous improvement and academic excellence.
  • Accountability Rating: While our latest state accountability rating remains an F, this score does not define the progress happening in our classrooms every day. We are deeply proud of the hard work and growth our students and teachers achieved last year, and we are fully committed to building on that momentum together this school year.
  • Goals for This School Year:
    • Academic Growth: Increase student proficiency in Reading and Math across all grade levels
    • Attendance: Maintain an overall campus attendance rate of 92% or higher.
    • Family & Community Engagement: Increase active family participation in campus events and volunteer programs.
Attendance Matters: Every Day Counts
Regular attendance is one of the single biggest factors in student achievement. Please help your child start each day strong by arriving on time.
  • School Hours: 7:40 AM – 3:10 PM
  • Prompt Arrival: Arriving before 7:40 AM ensures your child doesn't miss key morning instruction and helps build lifelong habits of responsibility.
Dismissal Procedures
To maximize safety and streamline our afternoon traffic, please take note of our dismissal spots:
  • Walkers: Escorted directly to the crossing guard at Gunter St. and Govalle Ave. by staff.
  • Grades 3–6: Dismissed at the bus loop.
  • ECSE through 2nd Grade (and Older Siblings): Dismissed at the front of the school.
Note: If your child’s dismissal plan changes on any given day, please notify their teacher as early as possible.

Building Routines at Home
A strong school day starts the night before! You can set your child up for success by establishing consistent bedtimes, laying out clothes before morning, and preparing backpacks ahead of time.

Get Involved: Volunteer with Us
We love our volunteer partners! Whether you have an hour a week or a few hours a month, your presence makes a difference. Register and explore volunteer opportunities at Austin ISD Voly

Thank you for your ongoing partnership, trust, and support. Together, we are going to make this school year our best one yet!

Warm regards,
